Wind Training

Basic safety training from the experts in the field

As a service provider to the onshore and offshore wind sectors for over 13 years, our experience and knowledge of working in the field supports us to deliver the highest quality of wind technician training.

Our Global Wind Organisation (GWO) courses give delegates a solid understanding of all safety hazards while providing turbine manufacturers and development owners assurance that their workforce is trained to a leading industry standard.

TRAINING IN HOUMA, USA

As an Altrad Sparrows company, and part of the Altrad Group, we utilise the Altrad Sparrows training facility in Houma to deliver our GWO courses, where we have designed and built a 25ft tower for the practical elements of our training. We offer four GWO courses in Houma:

  • Basic Safety Training
  • Advanced Rescue Training
  • Crane and Hoist Basic User
  • Slinger Signaller

Why GWO?

GWO is a non-profit body founded by wind turbine manufacturers and owners. It sets out common, international standards for safety training and emergency procedures which is rapidly becoming the preferred standard in the USA and across the world. Operators used to have their own standards and companies had to train personnel in multiple ways but GWO has created a standardised process that the global wind energy sector is quickly adopting. It gives operators and OEM’s confidence that technicians are trained to the highest standard.

This course focuses on the aspects of a rescue in a wind turbine, including access, patient packaging, and communications for an injured person from the basement, tower, nacelle, hub, and blades. Upon completion of GWO ART, participants will have the knowledge required to access and rescue an injured person from almost any area of a wind turbine.

GWO ART is divided into the following four modules:

  • Module 1: Hub, Spinner and Inside Blade Rescue
  • Module 2: Nacelle, Tower, and Basement Rescue
  • Module 3: Single Rescuer: Hub, Spinner and Inside Blade Rescue
  • Module 4: Single Rescuer: Nacelle, Tower, and Basement Rescue
