About us

We are an Altrad Sparrows company, part of the Altrad Group, with a global network of technical and engineering expertise which can be deployed anywhere around the world.

Who we are

As a provider of specialist services to the onshore and offshore wind industry we are committed to delivering the highest standards of safety and quality to every project we work on.

Through the delivery of blade integrity, balance of plant maintenance, main component exchange, installation and commissioning services, we support onshore and offshore wind turbine OEMs and operators. Working across the lifecycle of projects we assure the reliability and integrity of critical equipment and operations.

Our reputation is built on the quality of our people, all of which embody our culture for delivering excellence.

Our history

Since becoming part of Altrad Sparrows in December 2017, Alpha has grown considerably. The acquisition strengthened Altrad Sparrows’ position in the renewables sector and enabled Alpha to utilise the wider Group’s geographical footprint and technical network to support customers in new regions.

Alpha was established in 2007 by our CEO Mikkel Lund, in his hometown of Struer in Denmark. With a background in mechanics, Mikkel worked as an engineer on ferry routes in the North Sea where he could see the growth of the wind farms.

Seeing an opportunity to support the wind industry, Mikkel set up Alpha, offering technical services to offshore wind turbines. From those early contracts, the company grew over the next few years and by 2013 had more than 50 technicians working on a number of projects across Europe. Now with over 300 specialist technical personnel our work extends to projects in Australia, Asia Pacific and the USA.

Our people

Our reputation is built on the quality of our people and we are proud to work with over 300 of the most highly skilled technicians in the wind energy business.

We operate with a blend of permanent staff and long-term contractors which provides us with a business model that allows flexibility and quick reaction times.

Our experienced and well-trained technicians are all GWO (Global Wind Organisation) certified, ensuring we work to the highest globally recognised safety and technical standards.

We are committed to attracting new talent into the wind industry and invest in developing our people. Our facility in Houma is GWO certified, enabling us to deliver GWO BST (Basic Safety Training), Crane and Hoist Basic User, Advanced Rescue Training, and Slinger Signaller courses in-house to all our technicians based in the USA.
